We’re very proud to announce one of our resident director and motion graphic artists Brady Cackler just won not one, but three awards this past weekend at the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival for his VFS grad project “What He Left You.”

The festival showcased thirteen short films of 12 minutes or less from talented local filmmakers and Brady’s film totally cleaned up. Not only did What He Left You win three of the seven available awards – Best Film, Best Performance, and Best Technical Achievement – but it was nominated for Best Writing, as well!

“There is no doubt it feels good to be recognized for your work, but more so, it’s great to have an opportunity to share something that you have put so much work into. What He Left You was a chance to use all of the skills I have developed in writing, cinematography, visual effects, and art direction to tell a very personal story.

Directing a film is an extraordinarily collaborative process, just like being a designer. Working with a team of talented people to create a narrative-rich project is truly rewarding. I’m always looking to be a part of challenging new projects to push my limits, while telling a client’s story in a way that exceeds their expectations.”

It’s with this enthusiasm that Brady continues to design and deliver stellar motion graphics for our clients and our team here at FCV. In addition to motion graphics he has contributed to our award-winning It’s Different Now campaign, and Brady has been recognized as an Adobe Design Achievement Award semi-finalist in motion design.

What He Left You is a 10-minute short film about a man whose famous inventor father disappeared 25 years ago, only to leave his son one last gift in his final will and testament. We encourage you to check it out below – it’s awesome! Congratulations, Brady!
